Job summary

UEC is seeking a student-intern in Bakersfield, CA, to support instrumentation and control projects. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting I&C engineers with instrument indexes, IO assignments, data sheets, and requisitions.

You will participate in sizing and selection of components, help prepare control philosophy and narrative documents, and learn industry standards. A relevant engineering degree enrollment is required; energy sector exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong technical proficiency.
• Sound interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven initiative, flexibility and adaptability.
• Students in 3- or 4-year programs should have completed at least the second year; 2-year program students should have completed at least the first year.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical knowledge to contribute to projects and enhance skills through training.
• Assist I&C engineers and design leads with instrument indexes, IO assignments, data sheets and purchase requisitions.
• Participate in sizing and selection of instrumentation and control system components.
• Support preparation of control philosophy, narrative documents, Cause & Effect and Shutdown Keys, and control system architecture.
• Familiarize with reference materials and applicable industry standards, codes, and legislation.
• Comply with HSSE program.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships in a consulting engineering environment.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
