Beyond New Horizons is seeking a Mechanical or Aerospace Systems Engineer to support hypersonic wind-tunnel testing at Tunnel 9 in Silver Spring, MD. You will own major systems, coordinate improvements, and lead design, analysis, and documentation for safety and performance.

The role requires BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, CAD experience (Cre o), and ability to obtain security clearance. Salary ranges by grade and location are provided; internal/external candidates welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Grade 07 requires a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Experience using solid modeling CAD software.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsabilités

• Respond to system malfunctions during tests and assist with corrective maintenance.
• Perform root cause failure analyses and recommend remedial actions.
• Analyze and write reports on equipment design for safety reviews.
• Conduct system safety hazard analyses and write clear work instructions.
• Update and maintain system documentation for systems of responsibility.
• Develop estimates for small improvement and test projects.
• Coordinate with internal and external customers and model shops to optimize test article designs.
