Job summary

HDR is hiring a Structural Engineer to support our Hydropower Practice in the Southeast. You will review documents, develop specs, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams through design and construction phases for dam and power facilities.

Required: a Civil/Structural BS, PE license, and prior structural engineering experience. Familiarity with hydropower and field inspections is a plus; strong software skills are expected. This on-site role offers growth within an employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• PE license recognized by the licensing board for the position location.
• Previous structural engineer experience.
• Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms.
• Proficiency with Office, AutoCAD, and structural software (RISA, Staad, ETABS, SAFE).
• Active participation in an employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Review structural documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Write and edit structural specifications and perform calculations.
• Coordinate the structural design team through development and contract phases.
• Lead meetings with agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct design sessions on site with project manager and other disciplines.
• Manage workload across design development and construction document phases.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines and incorporate changes into documents.
