Job summary

HDR is expanding its Hydropower team in the Southeast and seeks a Structural Engineer to support design, repair and retrofit of hydro facilities. The role involves coordinating with a national Hydropower Practice and working on projects from proposal through construction documents, including site visits and agency reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE or equivalent) license required.
• Previous structural engineer experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar.
• Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Active participation in an employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Review structural documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
• Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and sizes, and perform calculations.
• Coordinate the structural design team through design development and contract documents.
• Lead meetings and reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct design development and construction document work sessions at project sites with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to meet schedules.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines and handle addenda, RFIs, change orders, and incorporated changes.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
