Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers seeks a qualified Mechanical Engineer (Hydropower) to prepare and lead design studies for mechanical features in power facilities. The role involves directing preliminary and final designs, contract plans, and specs for hydropower equipment and supervising A-E contracts.

Responsibilities include field visits, technical reporting, and providing advisory services to HQ and districts on hydropower mechanical systems. A valid driver’s license and TDY travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with ABET accreditation or equivalent.
• Experience or training in mechanical systems for hydropower facilities is required or beneficial.
• Ability to lead design teams and coordinate multi-discipline projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review studies and analyses of design alternatives for mechanical features in planning and detailed design memorandums.
• Prepare designs, contract plans, and specifications for mechanical equipment in hydropower houses and pump stations.
• Lead design teams, manage schedules and budgets, and communicate with stakeholders and reports.
