Job summary

Stantec is seeking an intermediate Civil/Hydrologic and Hydraulic Engineer for its hydropower and dams group in Southern California (Pasadena, Irvine, or San Diego). The role involves supporting feasibility studies, detailed design, and construction services for dam, hydroelectric, and water projects, within multi-disciplinary teams.

You will work on technical analyses, modeling, and design documentation, collaborate with engineers and geologists, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering; PE/California license preferred but not required immediately.
• 5–10 years civil/hydrologic/hydraulics experience; dams experience a plus.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses and modeling for dam, hydroelectric, and energy projects.
• Model hydrology/hydraulics with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, LifeSim or FLO2D.
• Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for spillways and hydraulic structures.
• Assist feasibility studies by researching issues and developing solutions.
• Support construction phase with QA and site observations.
