Job summary

Stantec is seeking an intermediate Civil/Hydrologic and Hydraulic Engineer to join the hydropower and dams group in Southern California. The role involves dam and hydroelectric projects, design for conveyance tunnels, and water resource studies, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across domestic and international clients.

The successful candidate will work on feasibility studies, detailed design, and construction support, with potential travel to project sites and a hybrid work

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of work experience in civil/hydrologic and hydraulics engineering; dams experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university; PE license within 1 year preferred.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with focus in hydrology and hydraulics preferred and California PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses and modeling for dam, hydroelectric, and energy-related projects.
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, LifeSim, and FLO2D.
• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for hydraulic structures.
• Support feasibility studies, design, and construction with technical reports and calculations.
• Provide engineering support during construction and participate in QA/QC and project coordination.
