Job summary

The Systems Engineer will support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of Plug Power’s hydrogen fueling infrastructure products.

You will apply mass and energy balance modeling, ROI analysis, and test validation while handling change control, documentation, and requirements management across GenFuel systems deployed at 300+ customer sites.

Collaborate with field and product teams to ensure scalable, safe, and efficient operation across the hydrogen ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or controls engineering or closely related field.
• 0–5 years of engineering experience.
• Ability to develop mass and energy balance models and apply them to real system performance problems.
• Ability to build quantitative analyses – ROI models, efficiency calculations, or test condition development from first principles.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools to process operational datasets.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
• Familiarity with process controls concepts, instrumentation, or sensor-based systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and organized; capable of managing workstreams independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hydrogen system efficiency via mass and energy balance modeling.
• Build ROI analyses to support engineering change decisions.
• Develop and validate test conditions for system diagnostics.
• Define, document, and maintain system-level requirements and functional specifications.
• Own process documentation integrity across GenFuel systems and control narratives.
• Execute and enforce the MOC process for design and field changes.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects with operations, field, and design teams.
