Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to lead design and analysis of water-related infrastructure across projects in the United States and beyond. You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines on flood protection, water supply, and wastewater facilities, guiding proposals and construction support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures for flood control, hydroelectric, and water resource projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prepare project proposals including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
• Forecast workload and schedules.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, specifications, design documentation and criteria.
• Perform engineering services during construction, including review of shop drawing submittals.
• Conduct inspections and structural assessments of existing structures and prepare reports.
• Prepare and present technical presentations to project team, clients, and technical review boards.
• Conduct risk analyses for hydraulic structures and identify potential failure modes.
• Manage tasks on large projects or multiple medium-sized projects.
• Review the work of others to ensure quality of deliverables.
• Monitor projects to control budgets and schedules.
• Participate in business development, marketing, and recruiting activities.
• Mentor junior staff.
