Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to design and analyze hydraulic structures for flood control and water resources projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, prepare proposals, review drawings, and ensure compliance with USACE/USBR/FEMA standards.

The role includes project leadership, client presentations, risk analyses, and occasional travel. Partial remote work is available, and a PE license plus 10 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures related to flood control and water resources projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prepare project proposals with scopes, budgets and schedules.
• Forecast workload and schedules.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, specs and bid documents.
• Perform engineering services during construction and review submittals.
• Conduct inspections and prepare reports.
• Prepare/present technical presentations.
• Conduct risk analyses for hydraulic structures and document findings.
• Manage tasks on large or several medium projects.
• Review work for quality against codes and standards.
• Monitor budgets and schedules.
• Participate in business development and recruiting activities.
• Mentor junior staff.
