Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Hydraulic Modeler – Water and Sewer to join our Water Team in Blacksburg, VA or Richmond, VA.

You will develop, calibrate, and analyze hydraulic and hydrologic models for water and wastewater systems, supporting design decisions and long‑term infrastructure planning. The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree with 3+ years of related experience and proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, and InfoWorks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required.
EIT certification or PE license preferred.
Strong knowledge in hydraulics with practical application.
Hydraulic modeling experience required.
Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, InfoWorks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication and collaborative mindset.
Participation in engineering societies preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop, calibrate, and analyze hydraulic and hydrologic models for water and wastewater infrastructure systems.
Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for water projects.
Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under guidance of senior staff.
Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying best practices for sustainability and public health.
Monitor project progress and performance, resolving issues to minimize delays.
Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff, including field assignments.
