Job summary

HDR is seeking a Water / Wastewater Engineer with expertise in hydraulic modeling to support projects across Maryland, DC, and Virginia. The role involves developing and calibrating hydraulic models for water distribution and wastewater systems, GIS data analysis, and client-facing activities.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, 5+ years in utility hydraulic modeling, and strong communication and leadership skills to guide project teams and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in utility hydraulic modeling and infrastructure design.
• Knowledge and experience with wastewater collection system and/or water distribution system hydraulic modeling software.
• Must have excellent communication skills and thrive working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate water and wastewater hydraulic models.
• Perform GIS data analysis, alternatives analysis, and cost analysis.
• Contribute to master planning, design and capital project development.
• Interact with clients in project meetings and presentations; develop proposal scopes and effort estimates.
• Provide mentoring and quality assurance/quality control for hydraulic modeling projects.
