Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Hydraulic Modeler – Water and Sewer to join the Water Team in Blacksburg, VA or Richmond, VA. You will develop and calibrate hydraulic models for water and wastewater systems, supporting design decisions and long‑term infrastructure planning.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in Civil Engineering, at least 3 years of related experience, and familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, WaterGEMS/SewerGEMS, InfoWater/InfoWorks; EIT or PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Hydraulic modeling experience required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate, and analyze hydraulic and hydrologic models for water and wastewater infrastructure systems.
• Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for water projects.
• Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership.
• Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices for environmental sustainability and public health.
• Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical infrastructure.
• Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments and rehabilitation efforts.
