Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking a Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist I for the Northeast region. The role offers a hybrid work schedule from Parsippany or Boston offices, or full remote based in eligible states.

You will handle multi-party workers’ compensation claims with varied exposure, determine liability and coverage, and develop case strategies to reach timely resolutions. The position requires a relevant degree or Zurich training, adjuster licenses, and strong knowledge of insurance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years in Claims or Insurance.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with 2+ years in Claims.
• High School Diploma with 4+ years in Claims.
• Zurich Claims Training Program completion with 2+ years in Claims.
• Must obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses.
• Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets and products.
• 3+ years handling claims with medium to high severity and exposure.
• 3+ years Litigation Management experience.
• Familiarization with NY jurisdiction; willingness to learn others.
• EDI filing requirements.
• WCCA, WCCP Designations.
• Knowledge and skill of claims handling.
• Experience in line of business.
• Analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Document claims file by accurately capturing and updating data.
• Assess liability by gathering relevant facts and applying applicable law.
• Verify coverage and determine if loss falls within policy terms.
• Develop case strategy and evaluation for timely resolutions.
• Establish timely reserves within authority limits and review throughout cycle.
• Assess damages and determine value within legal allowances.
• Negotiate settlements within authority, using available tools.
• Meet quality standards by following best practices.
