Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking a Project Engineer with civil traffic and transportation design experience to support roadway, highway, and multimodal infrastructure projects. Based in San Jose with hybrid or remote options from Redwood City or Pleasanton, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on all project phases.

You will advance your technical expertise while contributing to design, coordination, and stakeholder communication across public agencies and clients.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
• Experience with SignCAD, AGI 32, or Synchro/SimTraffic is highly desirable.
• EIT certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordination of transportation infrastructure projects including roadways and multimodal facilities.
• Prepare geometric design plans and profiles to standards aligned with Caltrans and local agencies.
• Develop grading, drainage, and stormwater plans for corridors.
• Coordinate utility systems and liaise with public agencies and vendors.
• Develop quantities takeoffs and cost estimates; support project delivery from planning through construction.
• Incorporate complete streets, green infrastructure, and ADA compliance into designs.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/city codes and travel to BKF offices as needed.
