Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer with civil traffic and transportation design experience to support roadway, highway, and multimodal infrastructure projects.

Based in San Jose, with hybrid or remote opportunities from Redwood City or Pleasanton offices, you’ll work with project managers and multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, and construction support. The role focuses on traffic/transportation design, coordination with public agencies, and delivering complete streets

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering focusing on roadway systems and multimodal corridors
• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required
• Experience with SignCAD, AGI 32, or Synchro/SimTraffic desirable
• EIT certification is highly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with internal and external partners

Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate transportation infrastructure projects including roadways, corridors, roundabouts, curbs, retaining walls, overpasses, transit facilities, and ADA curb ramps
• Develop traffic engineering components such as signal design, pavement markings, signage, and multimodal improvements
• Prepare geometric design plans and profiles per Caltrans and local standards
• Create grading, drainage, and stormwater plans for transportation corridors
• Coordinate transportation-related utilities with public agencies and providers
• Develop quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
• Incorporate complete streets, green infrastructure, and ADA compliance into designs
• Apply Federal, State, and local codes; prepare studies and alternatives analyses
