Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a Transmission Line Drafter to join a multi-disciplined team of drafters, designers and engineers in developing transmission and distribution line drawings. This role uses CAD tools and 3D design in a training environment.

You will draft transmission line plans, hardware details, material lists, and grounding details, and collaborate with engineering staff to interpret specifications and input.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or a high school diploma with 2+ years drafting coursework or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop transmission/distribution line drawings as part of a multi-disciplin ed team with drafters, designers and engineers.
• Apply CAD skills and receive hands-on training in 3D design software such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Develop transmission line plans, profile drawings, hardware details, material lists and grounding details.
• Create master sketches at scale showing proposed installations relative to existing facilities and precise specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering staff to interpret inputs from specifications, weight/volume calculations, and stress factors.
