King County Road Services Division is seeking a Traffic Supervising Engineer IV to lead QA/QC for traffic elements in major capital and countywide projects. The role drives field and office studies to advance traffic control technologies and guides the Traffic Count Program to meet evolving standards.

You will supervise skilled teams, oversee traffic operations analyses, and provide litigation support as needed, shaping safe, efficient travel across King County.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising field and office traffic safety investigations.
• Strong knowledge of MUTCD, WSDOT Design Manual, AASHTO standards.
• Ability to analyze traffic operations and prepare reports.
• Excellent communication with officials, partners, and staff.
• Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities.
• Familiarity with traffic counts and data analyses.

Responsabilités

• Supervise field and office work for traffic safety investigations and responses to citizen traffic-related requests.
• Oversee High Crash Location reporting, road closures and work zone traffic control, and pavement markings.
• Provide QA/QC for traffic elements in capital and countywide projects.
• Oversee discretionary traffic services for contract cities.
• Perform or supervise in-house traffic studies and review consultant work.
• Oversee the Annual Traffic Safety Report and collision coding.
• Supervise staff supporting countywide Guardrail Programs.
• Review Special Use Permit applications for events like bike races and parades.
