Job summary

AECOM's Transportation group in New York is seeking a Traction Power Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in support of the New York Metro Region. The ideal candidate will perform design calculations, learn new material, and support the rail systems group during design and construction projects, including work in live HV substations and along major commuter corridors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; 4+ years in traction power design.
• Experience with 750 V DC third rail and overhead distribution systems.
• Knowledge of railway traction substation equipment and testing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare power systems AC/DC single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring drawings, and layout drawings.
• Develop engineering design criteria, reports, and technical specifications.
• Perform onsite inspections in live HV substations and along active railways.
• Attend factory and site commissioning tests and prepare field reports.
• Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies; assist budgeting and scheduling.
