Job summary

AECOM’s Transportation group is seeking a dynamic Traction Power Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in support of the New York Metro Region systems practice. The ideal candidate will perform design calculations, learn and apply new material efficiently, and support the rail systems group during design and construction projects.

You will work on notable projects with major railway systems, with experience in commuter rail, light rail, and subway systems across the US.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4 years of traction power design experience.
Experience with DC/AC traction systems, substations, design, construction and commissioning.
Develop technical specifications for electrical substation equipment.
Perform electrical calculations for railway traction substations.
Design and construct grounding and bonding networks for electric railways in DC/AC.

Responsibilities

Prepare power system AC and DC single-line diagrams, metering and relaying schematics, and wiring drawings.
Prepare engineering design criteria and reports.
Prepare engineering technical specifications.
Perform onsite inspections and field reports in live substations and along active railroads.
Attend factory tests and site commissioning tests and prepare field reports.
Perform protection relay settings and coordination studies; provide budget and schedule estimates for large projects.
