Job Path, Inc. in New York, NY is seeking an energetic Employment Counselor to manage a caseload and ensure participants maintain and grow in their jobs. You will work closely with employers, colleagues, and families to build skills and independent work habits.

Location combines two days in Midtown Manhattan with hybrid remote options on non-office days. BA degree preferred or related experience, with benefits including health and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• BA degree preferred or combination of high school diploma or equivalency and related experience.
• Experience supporting people with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with administrative work and record keeping.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
• Computer literacy in Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and web-based case notes.
• Demonstrate competency in written, verbal and computational skills to document records per mandates.
• Excellent networking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support to a caseload of ten to fifteen people in our employment program.
• Develop strategies for participants to build work skills and independence.
• Help people work through on-the-job issues using creative problem solving.
• Encourage participants to learn new skills and grow in their roles.
• Develop positive relationships with coworkers, supervisors and managers.
• Collaborate with employers to ensure satisfaction with services.
• Support career development, advocacy, and job development.
• Attend team meetings, trainings, and maintain communications with supervisors.
• Maintain ongoing communication with families and network care managers.
• Be flexible to provide weekend or after-hours support when needed.
• Provide training and guidance to Direct Support Professionals.
