Job summary

Housing Works, Inc. collaborates with the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice to run the ETH program, offering transitional housing and reentry support for individuals facing housing insecurity.

The Vocational Counselor will conduct intakes, help participants craft resumes, and connect them with education and employment resources across three NYC sites. You will provide individual counseling, lead work readiness sessions, maintain documentation, and build relationships with NYC employers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services, psychology, social work or related field is required.
• Minimum 1 year of vocational counseling or workforce development experience.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.
• Strong written documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to travel within the boroughs by public transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vocational programming intakes across three ETH Program sites.
• Co-develop employment and education-related goals with participants and include in individualized service plans.
• Assist clients with developing resumes and cover letters.
• Provide individual vocational counseling to participants.
• Facilitate group work readiness and career training interventions.
• Refer participants to specialized job training or continuing education.
• Assist with applications for employment opportunities in desired career sectors.
• Maintain data entry and program outcome tracking.
