Job summary

Urban Pathways, Inc. seeks an Employment Specialist in New York, NY.

The role partners with clients to help them obtain competitive employment, offering high-quality customer service and cross-cultural awareness to promote an inclusive anti-racist culture. The Employment Specialist reports to the Director of Employment Services and will provide counseling, resume support, interview prep, and job development coordination within a hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 day remote).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience with people living with mental health conditions, formerly homeless people preferred.
• Experience with psycho-educational groups.
• Experience with Job Development, Supportive Employment and IPS models preferred.
• Experience providing vocational/employment counseling to persons with barriers to employment required.

Responsibilities

• Works with clients to develop employment plans fitting aptitude, education, and goals.
• Generates appropriate employment opportunities with the Director of Employment Services.
• Assists with resumes, cover letters, applications, and interviewing techniques.
• Provides counseling and feedback on workplace issues.
• Monitors computer labs and helps clients learn Microsoft Office applications.
• Accompanies clients to job interviews and field work as needed.
• Maintains and submits required documents and reports.
• Attends meetings, trainings, and supervision as required.
• Develops and maintains relationships with community services.
