Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is hiring a Solutions Architect to design secure, integrated technology solutions across multiple sites. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define architectures, assess requirements, and guide deployment from planning to delivery.

The role is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services division within the Computing Directorate. The position offers a hybrid schedule with one remote day per week, reflecting LLNL’s flexible approach.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Broad experience with virtualization platforms, such as VMWare.
• Broad experience with enterprise operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows Server.
• Broad experience with containerization platforms, such as Docker or Kubernetes, and related comprehensive knowledge of DevSecOps concepts.
• Comprehensive knowledge of standard modern authentication flows, such as SAML, OIDC or OAUTH2.
• Broad experience with cloud providers using IaaS or PaaS services, such as AWS or Azure.
• Broad experience deploying large-scale COTS software packages or managing application deployments on a large scale.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate in a team environment and independently.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with application owners and developers to analyze business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate on the deployment and architecture of both COTS and in-house developed applications.
• Develop and apply deployment methodologies, patterns, reference architectures, roadmaps, and documentation.
• Ensure successful integration between applications, systems, networks, and data sources.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to assess risks, costs, performance, and feasibility.
• Contribute to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement of systems.
• Recommend improvements to deployment patterns, integration approaches, and operational processes.
