Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks an entry-level DevOps Engineer to join Livermore Computing’s Platform Services Team in Livermore, CA. The role focuses on building and supporting containerized stacks in OpenShift/Kubernetes, enabling scalable HPC and cloud-like workflows for researchers.

On-site presence is required multiple days a week; telecommuting is limited. You will collaborate with security and other DevOps engineers, contributing to robust, highly available deployment

Qualifications

• Familiarity with deploying web applications and/or micro-services in a containerized environment.
• Familiarity with software testing and implementing continuous integration pipelines.
• This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Effective written and verbal communication within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, support, and enhance containerized applications and software stacks in LC OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters.
• Identify and communicate technical issues and contribute to solutions using DevOps practices.
• Perform software engineering with testing, configuration management, change management, and documentation.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure security and integration across services.
• Provide timely, customer-focused support to LC users of assigned tools.
• Assist with administration of OpenShift/Kubernetes in Linux environments following security requirements.
• Evaluate, deploy, and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging tools; automate deployments with zero downtime.
• Work with users, LC/LLNL security, and others on on-premises and cloud AI offerings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
