Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a transmission line engineer to design lines from 69kV to 500kV, develop design criteria, routing and siting, and perform cost analyses. You will review right of way, conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies while coordinating with vendors and clients.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two remote, relocation support if needed, and opportunities to lead automation-enabled workflows

Qualifications

• BS degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years on transmission line projects with design, cost estimates, scheduling, and procurement specs.
• Knowledge of right-of-way, conductor sags/tensions, and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of design techniques and producing technical plans and models.
• Experience writing engineering calculations and supporting documentation.
• Familiarity with design codes: NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Develop cost analyses and design criteria, routing and siting of transmission lines.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
• Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings.
• Hybrid work arrangement: three days in office, two remote; relocation package may be offered.
