Altana is building an AI-powered platform for trusted trade. We’re seeking an experienced backend engineer to join our Brooklyn-based team with hybrid work options.

You’ll shape product-scale APIs, data pipelines, and workflows, collaborating with data scientists to deliver scalable insights for a global client base. You’ll lead technical design, deploy production services to cloud environments, and mentor engineers while maintaining a relentless focus on code quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of real-world professional experience writing back end or data-driven software in demanding environments.
• Experience deploying production code to cloud-hosted environments.
• Experience delivering incremental releases from proof-of-concept to MVP to production.
• Self-starter with experience working on large, complex problems.
• Strong commitment to engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge-sharing.

Responsibilities

• Ingest product requirements, define technical requirements, and design practical, iterative technology designs.
• Work with product manager to develop implementation plans against roadmaps.
• Maintain, develop, and deploy customer facing workflows to support the product architecture.
• Analyze and propose technical solutions to enhance product offerings.
• Automate, test, and deploy your team's work.
• Review code and designs and uphold quality.
• Mentor developers and help them level up their skills.
• Drive technical decision-making across the team for scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Identify gaps and create plans to address them.
• Serve as domain expert for portions of the product surface area.
