Job summary

O.C. Tanner is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen the reliability, scalability, and performance of its high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS platform.

This hybrid role is based in Salt Lake City, UT, with three days onsite and two days remote each week. You will design and maintain monitoring, define SLOs, manage observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Coralogix), and collaborate with software teams to improve resilience and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or Java).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on observability experience with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or Coralogix.
• Track record of managing production incidents and reducing MTTR.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, alerting, and tracing for cloud-native apps.
• Define and track SLOs and error budgets; drive uptime and latency improvements.
• Manage observability tooling and define metrics, logs, and traces.
• Handle operational requests and automate recurring work.
• Serve as incident commander for major incidents; conduct root cause analyses.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on reliability and monitoring requirements.
• Participate in regular on-call rotations and reduce alert noise.
