Job summary

1 O.C. Tanner Company invites a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen the reliability, scalability, and performance of our high-traffic SaaS platform.

You’ll join a small SRE team and help define standards, SLOs, automation, and incident response to reduce toil and improve uptime. Based in Salt Lake City with a hybrid schedule (three days onsite, two remote), you’ll partner with software engineers to improve observability using OpenTelemetry and Datadog, manage Kubernetes and AWS

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Go, or Java).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Strong working knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on observability experience with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar platforms.
• A track record of managing production incidents and reducing MTTR.

Responsibilities

• Reliability & Performance: Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, alerting, and tracing for cloud-native applications.
• Observability: Manage observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Coralogix) and define metrics, logs, traces.
• Support & Operations: Handle operational requests and automate recurring tasks.
• Incident Management: Act as incident commander for major incidents; perform root cause analyses and blameless postmortems.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Manage Kubernetes clusters and AWS resources; automate provisioning and scaling with IaC.
• Collaboration: Work with software engineers to define reliability requirements and adoption of best practices.
• On-Call: Participate in an on-call rotation with India team; reduce alert noise and improve response.
