Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Senior Transmission and Drive Unit Engineering Designer. You will independently lead design and integration of complex transmission components from concept through validation, release, and launch.

You will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, safety, CAE, and suppliers to resolve design challenges, balancing performance, cost, mass, and manufacturability while mentoring others.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in automotive engineering design.
• Advanced Siemens NX modeling, assemblies, design intent, and clearance analysis.
• Proficient with Teamcenter and related PLM tools.
• Experience creating engineering drawings with PMI using GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of complex transmission components and interfaces.
• Translate requirements into robust designs considering safety, cost, mass, and manufacturability.
• Make design trade-offs involving performance, timing, and assembly.
• Develop advanced NX models using parametric and Wave-linked techniques.
• Create NX assemblies and perform clearance, packaging, and integration studies.
• Use Teamcenter to manage product structures and configurations.
• Create and release 2D drawings and PMI with GD&T and interface definitions.
• Lead DFM/DFA reviews with Manufacturing Engineering and plant teams.
• Interpret CAE results and apply findings to design decisions.
• Mentor designers and contribute to standard work and continuous improvement.
