Job summary

ApplyLogic is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to support a government client in Washington, DC. The role focuses on engineering, administration, modernization, and operations for Linux infrastructure.

Hybrid work with on-site and remote days. Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. 8–10+ years in enterprise or federal Linux environments; strong RHEL, Bash, Python, Ansible, and IaC experience required.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of Linux engineering experience in enterprise or federal environments.
• Advanced experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
• Strong proficiency with Bash scripting and at least one modern language (Python preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Ansible and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware), containers, and cloud computing.
• Experience supporting security compliance under federal frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53, STIGs).
• Automation scripts, IaC modules, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen Linux server environment through engineering, hardening, lifecycle management, and modernization.
• Improve system reliability, security, monitoring, configuration management, and automation.
• Support cloud adoption, cybersecurity posture, and enterprise architecture objectives.
• Provide Tier 3 engineering support, including troubleshooting and optimization.
• Architect, deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers across on-premise and cloud environments.
• Implement secure baseline configurations aligned with federal cybersecurity standards.
• Manage OS patching, kernel dependencies, and performance tuning.
• Support enterprise app hosting, web services, databases, and middleware on Linux.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash/Python.
• Implement IaC solutions using Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
• Assist with migration, deployment, and administration of Linux workloads in cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
