Job summary

General Motors Company in Warren, Michigan, is seeking a Senior High Voltage Power Electronics PCB Designer to lead PCB layouts for traction inverters and HV modules. You will own design release, collaborate with PCBA engineers and cross-functional teams, and drive DRC/DFM and IPC compliance.

The role requires 6+ years in PCB layout, leadership experience, and expertise with multi-layer HV PCBs, HDI concepts, and eCAD Xpedition. Hybrid work and relocation benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional experience creating and releasing PCBs; leadership; IPC standards knowledge.
• Minimum 6 years in PCB layout design.
• Experience in eCAD Xpedtion tool

Responsibilities

• Lead PCB layout for traction inverters and HV power electronics; work with PCBA engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Create and maintain PCB layouts, routing, and placement for electrical performance and manufacturability.
• Maintain PCB BOD including DRC/DFM and file release; ensure peer reviews of ECAD library parts.
• Create new BOD requirements for HDI and embedded power devices; maintain drawing templates.
• Be lead contact for IPC standards and industry practices for the team.
• Select technology and processes based on project requirements (HV, high-current) and manufacturing capabilities.
• Execute LV and MCU layouts along with HV components with high-current routing and thermal management.
• Implement grounding, shielding, return-current management, and noise containment strategies.
• Manage component placement for performance, serviceability, and manufacturability.
• Manage library, footprint, constraints, and DRC; support fabrication and production release docs.
• Balance workload across designers and maintain release processes.
