Job summary

General Motors Company seeks a High Voltage Power Electronics PCB Designer in Warren, Michigan to own PCB layout for Traction Inverter designs, working with PCBA engineers and EMC teams.

You will develop PCB layouts, lead design checks (DRC/DFM), create ECAD library parts, and collaborate with circuit, system and packaging engineers to optimize layout for performance, power, area and manufacturability. This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence at least 3 days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Professional experience creating and releasing PCBs designs.
• Minimum 4 years working experience in PCB layout design.
• Experience in ECAD Xpedition tool.

Responsibilities

• Develop PCB layout designs for Traction Inverter and other high voltage power electronics, collaborating with PCBA engineers and EMC teams.
• Create and verify PCB layouts, perform DRC and DFM checks to meet specifications.

This role is within the Energy Conversion Management Hardware Organization, specifically in the Traction Inverter Hardware team.We are seeking an experienced PCB designer to join our team as “High Voltage Power Electronics PCB Designer”. This role provides PCB design & layout ownership for Traction Inverter and other high voltage power electronics by working closely with the PCB Design Release Engineering team, Technical Specialists, EMC, Manufacturing and Quality.## Responsibilities* PCB Designer will be responsible for developing various PCB layout designs for existing and new inverters, collaborate with PCBA engineers, create PCB layouts, participate in design direction meetings, and create a collaborative environment with internal and external team members.* Responsible for creating and designing the physical layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This involves placing and routing components, traces, and other elements to ensure proper functionality and performance.* Create / lead / verify the layout design by conducting design rule checks (DRC) and design for manufacturability (DFM) checks. This ensures that the design meets the required specifications, constraints, and manufacturing capabilities.* Create / collaborate closely with other design teams, such as circuit designers, system engineers, and packaging engineers, to understand design requirements and constraints. They work together to optimize the layout design for performance, power, area, and manufacturability.* Select the appropriate technology and process for the layout design based on the project requirements, such as the target application, performance goals, and manufacturing capabilities.* Optimize the layout design for various factors by working with SI/PI/EMC/Thermal/Mechanical subject matter experts.
