Job summary

EDG Inc. is seeking a Sr.

Distribution Design Technician in Lafayette, IN to deliver distribution engineering design and estimating services for electric utility clients on lighting, distribution, and joint-use projects. The role involves running pole and equipment models to evaluate wind loading, applying design tools such as GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman, and Maximo, and coordinating with regulators and field crews throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering Technology preferred.
Over 10 years of related experience required.
Experience with utility design and estimating a plus.
GDT and Ike Pole-Foreman required.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed distribution designs and cost estimates for complex projects.
Run pole and equipment modeling to assess wind loading for current and future conditions using GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman, and Maximo.
Coordinate with regulatory bodies on planning, permitting, and technical issue resolution.
Conduct field inspections of distribution lines to assess current state and future needs.
Maintain documentation, keep supervisor informed, and update reports.
Support external customers and field workers via phone, email, and meetings.
