Job summary

EDG Inc. in Lafayette, LA is seeking a part-time Distribution Engineer to provide design and estimating services for lighting, distribution, and joint-use attachments for electric utility clients.

The role requires experience with pole design, wind loading analysis, and design software; strong communication and organizational skills are essential. In-office attendance is required with some work-from-home days. Travel to project sites may occur as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering Technology preferred.
• 1–5 years of related experience; more is acceptable.
• Experience with graphic/tool design software (GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman, Maximo) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed distribution designs and cost estimates tailored to customer needs and timelines.
• Run modeling software on poles to assess wind loading for current and future conditions (GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman, Maximo).
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies on planning, permitting, and technical issues for complex projects.
• Adhere to client procedures and keep supervision informed of status and needs.
• Facilitate interactions with customers, field workers, and management; document meetings and actions.
