Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Associates degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering Technology (or similar discipline) required.
• 5–10 years of related experience preferred; 2+ years with an Associate degree acceptable.
• 1 year of on-the-job experience or formal training in a graphic/tool design software (e.g., GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman or Maximo) required.
• Experience with Utilities industry is preferred.
• Course work or on-the-job exposure to AC Voltage Generation, Impedance and Voltage Drop, Three Phase Power Systems, System Layout, Overhead Lines, Underground Distribution, Substations, Distributed Generation, Substation Transformers, and Protection concepts is desirable.
• Estimating experience is a plus.
• Ability to understand codes and practices related to the position; strong math grounding; professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed distribution designs and cost estimates tailored to customer needs and timelines on complex projects.
• Run modeling software on poles/equipment to assess wind loading for current and future conditions (GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman, Maximo).
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies for planning, permitting and issue resolution on projects like highway widenings and reconductoring.
• Maintain thorough documentation and provide status updates to supervision.
• Interact with customers, fieldworkers, consultants, vendors and agencies throughout projects.
• Prepare records for meetings and update reports (Construction Report, etc.).
