Job summary

Sound Transit in Seattle, WA, is seeking an experienced civil engineering leader to oversee the West Seattle Link Extension and other Capital Delivery projects. The role directs large design consultant teams and coordinates with Operations, Safety, and third parties to deliver high-quality design aligned with the agency’s mission.

Requires a PE license or Architect license and 5+ years in civil/rail design with leadership and contract management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Five years of civil engineering/architectural design and construction experience including project and contracts management.
• Three years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience.
• Professional Civil Engineer or Professional Architect license (Washington).

Responsibilities

• Supervises, coaches, trains and motivates staff.
• Manages complex civil engineering design and coordination across multiple teams.
• Administers engineering consultant contracts, reviews designs, schedules and budgets.
• Plans and negotiates formal agreements with agencies and private property owners.
• Ensures design support during construction and change management of design issues.
• Communicates with executive leadership and participates in boards and committees.
