Job summary

The City of Seattle's Street Use Division seeks a Civil Engineer Supervisor to lead and supervise staff while acting as a senior technical and project lead for complex interagency transportation initiatives. You will partner with other agencies and City teams to align priorities, resolve delivery challenges, and advance projects from planning through closeout.

Ideal candidates will have a PE in Washington, a track record of managing large public infrastructure projects, and the ability to coach

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
• Six (6) years professional civil engineering experience, including two (2) years supervisory experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington.
• Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Responsibilities

• Lead Complex Interagency Projects: Lead and coordinate complex transportation projects delivered in partnership with other public agencies through planning, design, construction, asset handoff, and closeout.
• Provide Technical Leadership: Provide senior engineering review and technical guidance and coordinate resolution of complex multidisciplinary issues involving design, construction, utilities, right-of-way, permitting, constructability, City standards, and long-term asset responsibilities.
• Manage Project Delivery: Oversee scopes, schedules, budgets, risks, consultant and contractor coordination, construction issues, change management, documentation, agreements, and closeout activities.
• Coordinate and Resolve Issues: Work across SDOT, City departments, consultants, contractors, asset owners, and partner agencies to clarify responsibilities, reconcile competing requirements, develop solutions, and elevate matters requiring management decisions.
• Build Interagency Partnerships: Represent SDOT in technical, project, and management-level discussions and build effective working relationships with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
