Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the accuracy of the organization’s financial records, with a focus on general ledger accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams, supports audits, and ensures GAAP-compliant reporting.

The position is hybrid, based in Saint Paul, MN, with in-office and remote days coordinated to team needs, and offers pay between $40.00 and $48.00 per hour as a contract-to-hire role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Hands-on general ledger and reconciliations experience.
• Experience preparing financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close activities.
• Experience supporting financial or regulatory audits.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including posting and reviewing journal entries.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations to ensure balances are accurate, complete, and properly supported.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial reports in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Lead or support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, adjustments, and variance analysis.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Maintain and update the chart of accounts to support accurate financial reporting and organizational changes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline and enhance accounting and reporting processes.
• Support internal and external financial and regulatory audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.
• Ensure financial transactions are recorded and reported in compliance with GAAP and applicable policies.
• Assist with the implementation, transition, or administration of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, or FP&A tools as needed.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
