Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced scheduler and registrar to manage outpatient appointments, verify demographics and insurance, and pre-register patients efficiently. On-site training is required, followed by a transition to remote work with monthly in-office presence.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in customer service and registration or admitting areas.
• Keyboarding, typing, and data entry skills.
• Experience using Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• One year of experience working on a mainframe computer.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for designated outpatient services and coordinates changes in appointments through canceling or re-scheduling.
• Works referral lists and contacts patients for appointments.
• Collaborates and communicates with departments and physicians whose services are scheduled.
• Interviews and registers designated patients in the computer system.
• Pre-registers patients scheduled for less than 30 days in the future.
• Obtains accurate demographics, insurances, and physician information during registration.
• Screens registrations and customer data to ensure insurance eligibility and pre-certification and that physician referral requirements are met.
• Assists in identifying self-pay patients and refers them to financial assistance, instructing on requirements.
• Assists in the training and development of new employees.
