Job summary

SMV Recruiting, LLC is partnering with a growing engineering firm in Upstate New York to hire a hybrid Sales Engineer with ME/EE design experience. You will work with designers and engineers to launch new products, establish BOMs, and support current accounts within a Syracuse HQ-based team.

The role emphasizes partnership over traditional selling, with base pay plus uncapped commissions. Expect in-office presence 2–3 days per week and extensive collaboration across design and engineering teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, RF, or Industrial) or Business with technical experience.
• 2–5+ years of sales engineering, technical sales, or applications engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; clear, confident, and persuasive.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% across the Upstate NY region for onsite visits and engagements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design teams to identify and provide custom design and product solutions.
• Conduct technical presentations for clients and internal teams.
• Provide pre-sales support by addressing technical inquiries and assisting in proposal development.
• Engage in project management activities to ensure successful implementation of solutions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and competitive landscape.
• Assist in developing technical documentation and training materials for clients.
• Foster strong relationships with customers to drive repeat business.
