Job summary

ELOS Environmental, LLC in Hammond, LA is seeking a Project Archaeologist – Field Supervisor to lead archaeological fieldwork, manage field crews, and coordinate with SHPO/THPO and tribes on nationwide projects. The role blends field data collection with report writing and regulatory compliance.

Applicants should hold a graduate degree in Anthropology/Archaeology/History, have 1+ year of supervised experience, and be prepared for local and out-of-state travel.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or History.
• At least 1 year of professionally supervised experience, or 2½ years of equivalent training.
• Must meet professional standards (SOI/8150) and be approved by the State Office to be listed as a field supervisor.
• Experience with NHPA/ARPA/NAGPRA knowledge is a bonus.
• Must be able to travel locally and out-of-state for extended periods.
• Proficiency with GPS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, NEPA and state regulations.
• Conduct archival research and fieldwork (Phase I–III).
• Prepare and edit technical reports for cultural resource projects.
• Lead field crews and serve as Tribal Liaison for nation-wide interactions.
• Assist with project budgets and staffing and other duties as assigned.
• Ability to travel out of state for extended periods.
