Job summary

Toole Design Group LLC in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a Project Transportation Engineer I or II to join our Mid-Atlantic team. This full-time, on-site position offers a flexible hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days remote.

You will contribute to multimodal transportation design, develop signing and pavement marking plans, traffic studies, and construction documents, using tools like Synchro, MicroStation, SIDRA, and VISSIM.

Qualifications

• P.E. license (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• 6 years of experience (8 for Project Engineer II).
• Experience developing roadway/highway construction documents.
• Experience with signing and pavement marking, including MUTCD standards, as well as familiarity with PROWAG requirements.
• Experience in Highway Capacity Software, SIDRA, and/or VISSIM.
• Experience with permitting, agency coordination, construction documentation, and cost estimating.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with traffic studies, investigations, and determining the need for traffic control devices.
• Contribute to the design of transportation infrastructure projects.
• Develop signing and pavement marking plans, and maintenance of traffic/traffic signal plans.
• Use Synchro, HCS, MicroStation, and AutoCAD for production work.
• Contribute to studies like road diet feasibility, roundabouts, trail intersections, and parking.
• Develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to deliver multimodal outcomes.
• Mentor junior staff and support technical excellence.
