Job summary

SGS Dayton, NJ laboratory is seeking a Project Manager I to join the Client Services team. The PM I will guide client projects from initial request through lab analysis, reporting, and invoicing, coordinating with staff to ensure on-time delivery and accurate data.

The role emphasizes building strong client relationships, managing a portfolio of lower-complexity projects, and training PM Assistants. This is a hybrid position with an initial 2–4 week on-site training period.

Qualifications

• Associates' degree or equivalent industry experience in sciences and/or customer service is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field with 2–3 years PM Assistant experience preferred.
• Advanced oral and written communications skills are required.
• Strong self-initiative and resourcefulness are required.
• Advanced English language skills are required.
• Advanced mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills are required.
• Excellent attention to detail is required.
• Solid critical thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems are required.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally is required.

Responsibilities

• Act as main point of contact for a dedicated list of clients with lower complexities and/or annual analytical spend.
• Assist with all project setup steps: initial quote, supply orders, sample receipt, data reporting, and invoicing.
• Foster collaborative relationships with client, lab operations, and sales teams to support long-term relationships.
• Serve as client liaison to the laboratory to ensure project execution aligns with client and lab needs.
• Maintain up-to-date accounts and monitor project status with proactive client communications.
• Understand project regulations and methods, including environmental rules such as NPDES and SW-846.
• Document and execute client requests (e.g., bottle orders, tracking samples, LIMS login, change orders).
• Participate in offsite/virtual client meetings as coordinated with Sales.
