Job summary

Siemens in Wendell, NC seeks a Project Engineer - Utility Systems to support critical infrastructure projects across the electric power industry.

This hybrid role offers a clear pathway to growth across quotation, application engineering, manufacturing coordination, and customer engagement, spanning substations, renewables, and distribution systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required for the role.
Minimum of three years in electrical power systems or MV switchgear.
Strong understanding of MV control and protection; IEC 61850/DNP3 a plus.
Ability to read schematics and deliver cost-effective solutions.
Experience creating/managing BOMs within ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Meticulous, collaborative, and able to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

Design, configure, and deliver MV switchgear by analyzing specs, one-line diagrams and schematics.
Own projects end-to-end from quotation through application engineering, manufacturing coordination and handover.
Create engineering docs including one-lines, protection schematics and BOMs using Siemens tools.
Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to ensure first-time right designs.
Engage with customers and internal teams to deliver integrated switchgear solutions.
