Job summary

MCN Build in Washington, DC is seeking a Preconstruction Manager with a strong background in mechanical estimating to lead early project work and manage budgets, risk, and client relations. You will guide the bid process and coordinate with subcontractors for timely, cost-effective outcomes.

The role requires 8 years of estimating experience, a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction, and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced, hybrid workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field
• 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices
• Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the client and architect requirements
• Demonstrate imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project
• Excellent oral and written skills required
• Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite program
• Strong attention to detail and well organized, must be diplomatic with the ability to be discreet when handling confidential information/situations, excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
• Some travel may be required depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction activities including management, coordination, and delivery of preconstruction phases
• Produce progress estimates at design milestones and evaluate material and system costs
• Review document progress and coordination; build and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships
• Oversee detailed take-offs and estimating, define bid package scopes, and manage bidding process with subcontractors/suppliers
