Job summary

MCN Build is seeking a Preconstruction Manager in Washington, DC, with a strong focus on mechanical estimating. The role partners with the Project Executive to guide preconstruction from cost estimates to bid packages, ensuring alignment with client needs and project goals.

The ideal candidate has 8 years of estimating experience, a relevant degree, and excellent communication skills. This position supports flexible hybrid work arrangements and offers competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field.
  • 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices.
  • Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly understand client and architect requirements.
  • Demonstrate imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project.
  • Excellent oral and written skills required.
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite program.
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized; ability to be discreet with confidential information/situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Some travel may be required depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate preconstruction activities with the Project Executive for on-schedule, on-budget delivery.
  • Produce progress estimates at design milestones and evaluate material and system costs.
  • Review progress, coordination, and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee detailed take-offs and estimation; define bid package scopes and supervise subcontractor bidding.
  • Represent the firm to clients and architects, managing risk and financials within approved parameters.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated Preconstruction Manager with 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects. The right hard-working Preconstruction Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage, in collaboration with the Project Executive, the successful completion of assigned Preconstruction projects. The Preconstruction Manager is the lead for project financials, risk management, and client relations. Successful candidates will be able to share their passion for and dedication to getting the job done and confidently represent the firm, including committing the firm on schedule and cost matters within approved parameters.

What You’ll Do

Our new Preconstruction Manager will actas a key leader in the entire work acquisition process including management, coordination, and delivery of the preconstruction phases of the project and extensive client contact. MCN Preconstruction Managers produceprogress estimates at design milestones, evaluatematerial and system costs, reviewdocument progress and coordination, buildand maintainsubcontractor and vendor relationships. Preconstruction Managers are also responsible for detailed take-offs and estimating, the definition of bid package scopes, and overseeing the subcontractor/supplier bidding process. What You Bring To The Table

  • Salary Range: $135,000 –170,000 and an annual discretionary bonus
