Job summary
Xcel Energy is seeking interns to assist with planning of new electrical generation projects across service territories. You will work with the Generation Development Team on siting, equipment analysis, and cost estimation to help shape the future of power at Xcel Energy.
The program runs for a May 24, 2027 start date with potential extension based on performance and business needs. This role offers hybrid work, travel to sites, and a path to growth within a Fortune 500 energy company.
Qualifications
- Must be a current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027) enrolled in ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in any Engineering or Technical field.
- Minor travel opportunities to other Xcel Energy sites and existing generating facilities.
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) at the designated location per hybrid policy.
Responsibilities
- Assist in siting of new generation locations.
- Support equipment analysis and selection.
- Perform financial estimating and cost analysis.
- Develop risk management strategies.
- Support regulatory filings and submittals.
- Help develop new processes and tools for project management.
