Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship that introduces you to generation system modeling with a focus on capacity expansion and production costing within the Energy Supply & Market Modeling Team. You’ll shadow analysts, prepare data, load data into models, and perform basic scenario analysis while learning the team’s objectives and current scope of work.

The position starts May 31, 2027 and may extend beyond the internship term based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) / part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute to the designated work location in-person per hybrid policy

Responsibilities

• Shadow analysts for basic job function skills
• Attend meetings to understand team objectives and current scope of work
• Prepare data for model input
• Load data into model
• Perform basic scenario analysis
• Review model results
