Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship to support planning of new generation projects and to work with the Generation Development Team on shaping the future of power in Xcel Energy service areas.

The role emphasizes project management activities, including site siting, equipment analysis, and cost estimation, with a focus on learning and applying energy technologies. The position is part of a hybrid work model with in-person commuting to the designated site.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027)
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in any Engineering or Technical field
• Minor travel opportunities to other Xcel Energy sites and existing generating facilities
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in siting of new generation locations.
• Support equipment analysis and selection.
• Perform financial estimating and cost analysis.
• Develop risk management strategies.
• Support regulatory filings and submittals.
• Help develop new processes and tools for project management.
